Weaving the Summer
04:12
|
|||
Chorus 1
Hail to the summer, hail to the summer
the season that drives the cold winter away
Hail to the summer, hail to the summer
light your bonfire today is Beltaine
Chorus 2
High on Mount Caburn we look down on Tolkien land
the mist rolls away catch the sun on the sea
the ring of the morris bells brings on the May morning
set free your spirit come dance up the dawn
Down west in Padstow the wee 'oss spins round and round
fired by the teaser who's calling him on
the rhythm of the drums in the hills up above the town
brings out the people for dancing and song
Chorus 1 & 2
In the old town of Hastings the streets lie in wait today
garlands of ivy and flowers are seen
we'll look for the man who wears a green leafy coat
release the summer please Jack In the Green
Chorus 1 & 2

The Door
02:47
|
|||
Night spirit calling me into the darkness of the trees
calling me to where the green one lies
with lichen and moss on her oak-flesh thighs
spirals of woad decorate her skin
calling me wayward, drawing me in
Chorus
Moonbeams cast on the forest floor
are lighting my way to her secret door
Night spirit calling me into the darkness of the trees
calling me to where the green one sleeps
the mist of her breath on the ivy creeps
white as the owl that take the bird
soft as the cry that she has heard
Night spirit calling me into the darkness of the trees
calling me to where the green one breathes
shadow and light on the falling leaves
wet as the rain that roots the seed
with a promise that's kept in the darkening trees

Magick
03:33
|
|||
Chorus
Magickal fire your flames they burn higher
with you we aspire to reach for the sun
We'll meet at moonrise, connect with the ley lines
beneath the night sky dance and be one
Come stand within the circle that you and I have cast
within the boundary of this time we'll take the knowing path
hail to the elements, four quarters we command
freely we are here and between the worlds we'll stand
Power of the Earth I call you from the South
from the East the air come I call you now
the North to send in fire illuminate the night
water from the West bring power to this rite
Alternative verse (Northern Hemisphere)
Power of the Earth I call you from the North
from the East the air come I call you forth
the South to send in fire illuminate the night
water from the West bring power to this rite
And the Goddess and the God will join us on this night
with them our spells be carried and aid us in the sight
power to the circle for we are all kin
merry meet, merry part and merry meet again

Raven's Lore
03:21
|
|||
Darksome night and darksome lore
the tale is told in the shade of the Tor
of how a young man's soul shall bear the mark
of a King Stag's horn and a Raven's heart
The old Horned One saith deep and slow
give to me the life you owe
and the brave young man who flees so fast
delivers his heart to the King at last
The challenge you fear is only death
and the secret that waits in your dying breath
so yield to the Raven, have no fear
she is the Dark Maid, she is the seer
And he cries …. “Oh where is the raven so white and so fair
with the feathers of death in her shadowy hair
Oh where Oh where is the maiden dark
whose gift to me is her beating heart”
She said “come beloved and lie with me
upon the earth by the blackthorn tree
and high above and over the Tor
let the new horned moon keep Raven's lore”'
“When the moon's full dark so shall you run
through the woods in the guise of the old Horned one
and I as the Raven so fair and white
shall circle the Tor through the darksome night”
“And every time the moon wanes dark
and you and I share the sacred heart
then shall the womb of the land in the Tor
sound the rune of the Raven's lore”
And he cries …. “Oh where is the raven so white and so fair
with the feathers of death in her shadowy hair
Oh where Oh where is the maiden dark
whose gift to me is her beating heart”
Darksome night and darksome lore
the tale is told in the shade of the Tor

Faerie Tale
02:36
|
|||
Through the dark and cold winter long
they hold together in ancient song
waiting for the spring to set them
free by oak and ash and rowan tree
and they dance all night till the sun does rise
and spread it's beams across the skies
then they'll speak their secrets wise
in the arms of the great stone circle
CHORUS
And if you go around widdershins
there's faerie folk who live within
it's nine times round you must dance and spin
in the arms of the great stone circle
light, light a fire in the night
jump through the flames as the flames burn bright
see the world through elfin sight
in the arms of the great stone circle
Sing to the moon when she is round
and luck for you will then abound
what you seek for shall be found
in the arms of the great stone circle
come with me at Halloween
and follow the march of the Faerie Queen
on Elf King hill she shall be seen
in the arms of the great stone circle

Song for a Selkie
04:44
|
|||
Clouds dance across the face of old Mother Moon
shadows slip beneath the waves
as the tide pulls me in
cries in the night from the kingdom of the wind
my longing for the ocean
the waves take me on my journey
storm swept coast lines stir in my memory
shades of forgotten isles
scenes from the mighty deep
lone sails in winter stray to the siren's song
in seas as black as night
they come to me as I sleep
CHORUS
Shadowy wanderers with dark fey eyes
watch me from the water line
their silent voices call to me
they won't reveal their mystery
I hear her breathing
song for a selkie
New horizons are beckoning to me my longing for the ocean
just a motion of the heart
echoes of another time are reaching out to me
the freedom of the ocean
it's time for me to follow
down to where the sun and moon shine with a cooler light
I'll slip beneath their passage
the waves take me on my journey

Pan
03:50
|
|||
From the hidden world music seeps
and with the sunlight crosses over
a soft voice from memory speaks of another land
figures moving just out of sight
in the shadows you can't quite catch it
moving through the dappled light stands the horned man
He's watching you, he'll follow you
he's taking time from the green wood
You'll hear his tune, it's on the wind
it's the pipes of Pan
And from the borrow mounds
from dark secret places
where salmon wisdom dreams in rivers cold and deep
beyond the hidden world
spirits stir at his passing
Pan walks on cloven hooves to where the old Gods sleep
Recall the tune you have the key
he'll lead the dance to the green man
with secret words he'll take you there
on the pipes of Pan
From the hidden world music seeps
and with the sunlight crosses over
a soft voice from memory speaks of another land
beyond the hidden world
spirits stir at his passing
Pan walks on cloven hooves to where the old Gods sleep

Blodeuwedd
05:37
|
|||
Deft of hand, the fairest youth mortal ever saw
denied a wife by his mother, the wise one Aranrhod
two magicians with all of the their powers
by magick made him a bride out of flowers
Chorus
From broom and oak and meadowsweet
fair of face and breast and feet
conjured out of the otherworld
she became Blodeuwedd
Blodeuwedd, baptised in the way of the old
and given to sleep with the fairest youth mortal ever saw
yet Blodeuwedd was filled to the brim
with a passionate love for the Lord of Penllyn
Making love, three nights and bearing no delay
making love while the chieftain of the court was away
and when he returned to the Flower's bed
she discovered the art that would see him dead
Upon a hill, when passed a day and one long year
her love true, smote her husband with a poison spear
in the form of an eagle he screamed and flew
henceforth she slept with her lover true
Enchanters both, Gwydion and Math son of Mathonwy
heavy with grief, searched for the son of the prophecy
three songs to eagle's rotting flesh
returned Lleu Llaw Gyffes to his own likeness
“Better shall I be pleased the sooner I have relief”
so said Lleu and so said Math son of Mathonwy
on Blodeuwedd an enchantment was laid
“thou'll never be seen by the light of day”
Blodeuwedd made from flowers, flower bride
faithless bride, your owl self you cannot hide
I would do to thee that which is worse
Blodeuwedd here is thy curse
From flowers, fire, water, air
with magick in her flowing hair
conjured out of the otherworld
she became Blodeuwedd
From broom and oak and meadowsweet
fair of face and breast and feet
conjured out of the otherworld
she became Blodeuwedd

Marooned on Venus
04:18
|
|||
Moon dancing through your window
shimmer shadow across the floor
you can't sleep you feel so restless
have you never felt this way before?
Love is night and the tide is calling
you know you'd move with perfect synergy
and in your mind the movie's rolling
pulsing with sensual energy.........
CHORUS
And if she speaks in riddles, if she speaks in rhymes
and you understand the meaning set between the lines
and if you can lose yourself when you look into her eyes
and the sound of the wind is like a lovers sigh
then you're marooned on Venus.........
Day dreaming through your waking
it's time to get your feet back on the ground
and you think that it's yours for the taking
that it's the best thing that you ever found
but love is night and fickle Venus is calling
she's gone and put your head up in the stars
and it seems you'll never reach her
perhaps you should've just stayed there on Mars.........

Blackthorne's Rune
05:53
|
|||
By the way of the little wood
where once the faerie hill fort stood
then on the hip of the stream that winds
and through the mist of the root that binds
by the pool, by the stone
where the wild stag comes alone
in the black the raven's wing
in the lays the salmons sing
beneath the blackthorn's groaning bough
upon the hill’s moon crusted brow
and with the owl's swift decree
then it is I'll come to thee
when all is not as it would seem
and the wind speaks through a dream
and the fire is in the sea
then it is I'll come to thee
not by storm nor by flame
yet by the way the darkness came.............
In the dawning's star pale light
in the need fire's embers bright
when the earth grip has your bones
and the wind your dying moans
then it is I shall appear
like the shadows creeping near
dreaming seeded in my womb
flaming arrows from my loom
when the moon cup crowns the hill
and the reeds are blowing still
wait by the magick apple tree
there it is I'll come to thee
When all is not as it has been
and the truth is as the dream
when the sword at last is free
then it is I'll come to thee
not by storm, nor by flame
yet by the way the darkness came

Shadow Wood
04:34
|
|||
Upon a fine and sunny spring morn Ellen and her friends went walking
to greet the colours of the dawn, to hear the sweet birds talking
as they wandered down the path, each girl sang as her mother taught her
“stay away from the Shadow Wood, stay and be your mother's daughter”
Chorus
Twisting, turning Shadow Wood, flowers of colours of the rainbow
those who seek the Shadow Wood bring their friends and lovers sorrow
those who seek the Shadow Wood will never come to know tomorrow
As the sun climbed over head Ellen and her friends descended
down the side of a valley green to where the path way ended
down beside the trees so tall with birds on every branch a singing
“stay away from the Shadow Wood, go and be your mother's darling”
As the sun began to set, shadows to the town came creeping
shadows with the shape and form of Ellen and her friends all weeping
voiced spoke in every house, come say goodbye to your daughter
she has gone to the Shadow Wood, she was taken in the slaughter
As the moon began to rise, Ellen and her friends went flying
into the depths of a golden cask in which a girl was lying
every mother saw her child, her face, her lips her falling hair
all twisted like the Shadow Wood into a single body there.

Burning Times
08:48
|
|||
In the cool of the evening, they used to gather
'neath the stars in the meadow circled near an old oak tree
at the times appointed by the seasons
of the Earth and the phases of the moon
in the centre, often stood a woman
equal with the others and respected for her worth
one of the many we call the witches
the healers and the teachers of the wisdom of the Earth
and the people grew in the knowledge she gave them
herbs to heal their bodies, spells to make their spirits whole
hear them chanting healing incantations
calling forth the wise ones, celebrating in dance and song
{Refrain}
Isis, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Demeter, Kali, Innana
There were those who came to power, through domination
and they were bonded in their worship of a dead man on a cross
they sought control of the common people
by demanding allegiance to the Church of Rome
and the Pope declared the inquisition
it was a war against the women, whose power they feared
in that holocaust against the nature people
nine million European women died
and the tale is told of those, who by the hundreds
holding together chose their death in the sea
while chanting the praises of the Mother Goddess
a refusal of betrayal, women were dying to be free
{Refrain}
Now the Earth is a witch, and the men still burn her
stripping her down with mining, and the poisons of their wars
still to us the Earth is a healer, a teacher, a mother
the weaver of a web of life that keeps us all alive
she gives us the vision to see through the chaos
she gives us the courage, it is our will to survive
